In my father's mouth there is a hole on left side of the tongue and doctor's have asked to do biopsy. What can we do to treat it?
Dr. Khushbu Suthar
08:24 PM | 10-04-2020
Hello Atul, With biopsy in the tongue, there are several reasons coming in picture ranging from oral cancer to metabolism disorder like amyloidosis, it would be great if you could share more about its symptoms and how it is affecting his diet and health in overall. Amyloidosis is caused due to inhibition of protein absorption which tends to produce difficulty in absorbing the nutrients. Cancer is caused due to multiplication of abnormal cells resulting in our body's immunity weakening in fighting the disease. In this case, a brief history of your father would be of great help, for us to help with guidelines. A biopsy is an investigating procedure and there is no harm in doing it, it can be a mild ulcer too, take care of your father's health and hopefully, he shall recover soon. Consulting our personal naturopath at the forum should be helpful in your case. Hopefully, this suggestion will help. Thank you.

Insomnia is one of the common health issues which affects individuals these days. The main symptoms are the following: ·Heaviness in the head ·Feeling of pain or irritation in head ·Feeling of Nausea ·Feeling of tiredness and weakness ·Body ache ·Burning sensation or irritation in the eyes ·Generalised Irritation The other causes of insomnia may be due to digestive disorder, constipation, mental tension, fear, and worry, etc. Additionally, due to watching television late nights, reading books till late at night, the use of tea, coffee, and other intoxicants could also lead to sleeplessness. Even improper blood supply to the head region could be a cause. Mind obsessed with thoughts at the time of sleep becomes tense and disturbed and diminishes the sleep. Obscene literature disturbs the mind and prevents sleep. Deprivation of sleep causes changes to hormones that regulate hunger and appetite. One hormone called leptin is known to suppress appetite and encourages the body to expend energy. Sleep deprivation could reduce leptin. And lack of sleep makes you more likely to eat more of your overall calories at night, which can lead to weight gain. TREATMENT For immediate relief, a Natural bath or Hot foot bath might be useful. A spinal bath could also promote sleep. An application like a chest pack could enhance sleep. In the winter season taking a bath with hot water might be beneficial. To find a permanent solution from this disease, taking lemon water enema could be beneficial. Keep the bedroom sufficiently airy and open. People suffering from insomnia should eat more fresh fruits and vegetables in their meals instead of oily and heavy foods. Being on fruits for a few days yields special benefits. If you suffer from mental conditions like worries, tension, fear, jealousy, attachment, and aversion are the root causes, you should find a way out to keep them away or solve it so that it doesn’t affect your daily life. Measures to be taken for good sleep ·Try to get to bed only when feeling sleepy. ·Do not stay in bed for longer than 10 minutes if you aren’t able to sleep. ·Do not sleep during the day. ·Drink a glass of warm water before going to bed. ·Eat a very light early dinner that is easily digestible. At least give a 3-hour gap after the supper and before going to bed. ·Take a hot foot bath which could induce. ·Do deep breathing for 10 minutes. ·Practice Yoga Nidra, yogic sleep method, before going to bed. ·Drink a glass of warm milk or water with honey. ·Avoid drinks such as coffee, tea, cola or cocoa with evening meals or after. ·Take a hot foot immersion bath for 20-30 minutes or a prolonged cold foot bath for 45-60 minutes. ·Cold spinal bath is a tonic to induce sleep. ·Massage taken 2/3 times a week is helpful in inducing sleep. Full body massage with steam bath could be helpful in reducing body weight and also increase sleep. A bland or raw diet might be useful in weight management. Try to avoid carbonated drinks, sugared drinks, junk foods, fried foods which could always tend to put on weight and it is very common to dine on them for people who are used to working in the call centers.

Appendix - Demystified
In my previous article on tonsils, I described the tonsils as a lymph node to drain the toxins from the head region. In this article, let's understand the function of the little known organ 'appendix' and the lifestyle changes required to keep it functioning well. What is the appendix? The vermiform appendix is a lymphatic structure too, 4 inches in length, a small worm-like appendage near the juncture of the small intestine and the large intestine (ileocecal valve), where the colon begins its upward journey. History of the appendix A research team traced the appendix back nearly 80 million years in evolutionary history as per an article from Science Daily. In fact, the appendix seems to have evolved at two separate times in two separate lineages. The first line in some of the Australian Marsupials and then evolved in the mammalian line that humans belong to. Is it really vestigial? Vestigial organs are the organs that have no apparent function and are con

How to take deep sleep in night?
Vijai Pawar
09:07 PM | 03-01-2020
Dear health seeker, Modern medical and psychological studies indicate that sleep is a period of comparative quiescence in which extra reserve of energy is accumulated, making possible a renewed burst of activity afterwards. Good sleep and hunger are the two main criteria for good health, of these, sleep is more restorative than food. When we are fatigued we go to the bed and not to the dining table to get energy back. In sleep it is possible to heal wounds, to renew energy ( for younger people) to grow. Hence sleep is perhaps the best of Nature's boon. Only a healthy individual can sleep soundly though he will have no need to "Oversleep". On the contrary, the unhealthy individual will experience some sleep difficulties, the type and degree would vary according to the extent of ill-health of the person. During sleep, the subtle body has greater access to the cosmic power known as Ether or aakaasa which is the subtlest of foods and the most needed one. Sleep is defined in Webster's new world dictionary as " a natural recurring condition of rest for the body and mind , during which time it is little or no conscious thought, sensation or movement " . Natural sleep is the best medicine of all. It has no deleterious effects and permits an escape from all the harsh realities of life. A large section of humanity that today inhabits the civilized part of the world suffers from sleeplessness to a lesser or greater extent. Poor sleep in older people is surely is the inevitable feature of ageing, some may say. While the duration of sleep may become somewhat less as one age and in fact, less sleep would do in old age, the quality of sleep can be and should be good. One need not be a poor sleeper in old age unless he happens to be very unhealthy. Even the sufferers do not seem to go in to the question as to why and how sleeplessness is caused. The sleepless ones knock in vain at the doors of the healers so-called ( who are in reality none other than drug and dope-dispensers ) one after the other till, finally they become reconciled to their ' fate'. How to judge the sleep- Whether one has had enough sleep or not could be verified by the individual himself. If on waking up, he feels thoroughly refreshed, he has had good sleep. If that feeling of freshness is not there ,it means that he has not slept adequately. Merely sleeping for a long stretch is not enough. there are persons who 'sleep' for a long time and yet have insomnia.Only persons who have sound nervous system can enjoy a deep sleep of good quality. Effect of insomnia- The effect of insomnia may manifest in over in many ways forms of disorganized behaviour, low mental efficiency, forgetfulness, irritability, apathy, poor, judgement, anger,thought-disturbances may be there. There may be auditory and visual hallucinations, depression, self-depreciation etc.. Basic factors responsible for insomnia- 1. Worry 2. Disregard to positive food and overeating( particularly at night) 3. Excessive stimulation or depression( over-stimulation is always followed by depression ) 4. Inability to relax 5. Overwork 6. Voluntary curtailment of sleeping time 7. Very poor circulation of blood 8. Constipation, indigestion or some digestive disorder The cure lies in the removal of the cause. So let the sufferer not to resort to any symptomatic remedies doled out by the "different healing systems". The barbiturates usually recommended by allopaths for insomniacs have many side effects - a) These have an adverse effect on the vitamin 'D' metabolism , very much upsetting the general health of the individual. b) These cause several biochemical and electro-physical changes in the brain tissue, resulting in memory - impairment, failing mental powers leading to the confusion. c) As there can be no drug or chemical that is entirely free from risk of causing liver damage - so central is the role of the liver in the metabolism of foreign substances - barbiturates may cause hepatitis ( inflammation of the liver). d) Barbiturates may cause skin diseases. e) If anyone addicted to the use of barbiturates tries to stop using then, withdrawal symptoms would be there. Generally, 'fits' occurs at this stage. The antidepressants and tranquillizers for a certain type of insomnia cause nervous disability acute urinary retention etc. Let it be remembered that the sleep 'induced' by the drugs is no sleep at all, it is just unconsciousness. The individual who uses any of these remedies can never feel fresh after his so-called sleep, can not enjoy the 'Natural Happiness' referred to earlier. Let not the sufferer resort to "pincushion treatment" we mean acupuncture- for here too the cause is not attended to and hence the cure can never be a radical one. The health level would not be raised this way. Natural cure --: Besides taking care of mental causes, that is, removing negative emotions such as worry, fear, hatred, anger, bitterness, annoyance etc. Nature cure methods of healing insomnia which are in harmony with eternal natural laws are as below:- 1 Positive diet 2 Fasting 3 Avoidance of stimulants 4 Hydrotherapy 5 Relaxation 6 Correction of faulty habits 1. Diet-: normalize your nutrition. Eat sensibly, moderately, take predominantly positive food. Observe the principle of Vital Economy, both in regard to eating and in regard to every other aspect of your life that includes sensual pleasures that should be regulated. Excessive indulgence results in poor nervous system and health. 2. Fasting-: fast occasionally, for a day or two, fasting is one of the best ways to purify the system from within. Understand the rationale of fasting and fast according to hygienic principles. 3. Avoidance of all stimulants -: Keep away from refined, processed, tinned and bottled foods. Do not use fried, stale foods etc. Avoid the use of condiments, spices etc, flesh, meat & poultry products. Remember " let hunger be your spice". Give up tea, coffee, smoking, alcohol etc. 4. Relaxation -: Master the art of relaxation. Relax yourself the right way. Remember that relaxation and stimulation are opposed to each other. Have spinal baths regularly everyday ones or twice for 20-30 minutes. The spinal bath is a boon to all insomniacs & nervous wrecks. Do some exercise daily. Walk 2-3 km. in the morning depending upon the state of health you are in. Keep yourself as active as possible, physically and mentally without tension. The sluggish ones, the shirking ones, the lazy ones do not sleep soundly. Once or twice a day, and at night while retiring one should lie down on the bed or floor and do SAVASASANA to accomplish complete relaxation. One of the characteristics of sleeplessness is anaemia of the brain, - reduced blood supply to the brain. It is not the full answer to sleep but it is one of the main essentials. Use of enema -: Enema used non-violently will help the patient to some extent to clear the colon at least of some of your clogging matter and constipation. This may help you to sleep somewhat better. The bedding should be firm if not hard. Spring and sponge mattresses are highly undesirable as the body sinks out of alignments. High pillows caused tension in the V-neck muscles and impede blood circulation to the head, hence they are to be avoided. Bed clothing should be light, of course, commensurate with the needs of the climate. The face should on no account be covered and there should be free ventilation in the sleeping room. Minimize viewing T.V. videos, laptop and mobile screens. Younger generation is using these gadgets unnecessarily for frivolous activities which should be completely avoided. Face the problem of life, face them squarely, develop confidence in your capabilities to face them. Improve your real personality. Conduct yourself in such a way that you will keep calm, tranquil all the time. Without mental hygiene, one can not keep healthy. The individual can also benefit from non-violent Pranayam and air bath. In quite some cases there may be psychological factors causing insomnia. Some might have been affected by factors like loss of job, financial crisis, departure (or death) of a loved one etc. Some others might have been afflicted by loneliness and might have developed despondency. It may be difficult for such patients to help themselves, as in most cases their mental health may be at a low ebb. Instead of seeking the help of a medico, psychologist or psychiatrist who would very likely exploit the situation, he should seek the guidance of a true friend or a Guru, who would not mock at him, who would not laugh at him, who would not exploit him but who would lovingly help him to restore his mental health by guiding him aright. Let him, last but not least combined the daily prayer with the methods suggested above. Prayer done sincerely every day, morning &evening. Combined with the adoption of prayerful living (which means adopting nature cure in daily life) is what will help the individual to achieve the desired objectives. He can enjoy good sleep every day and lead a long and healthy life. V.S.Pawar Member Indian institute of natural therapeutics 1980

Hello User, A dehydrated body is the most important cause of arthritis, the reason it happens is because of the fact that the cartilage between each of our joint which gives the needed mobility and helps our body to flow in grace, cartilage is 90 percent made of water when our body gets into the state of dehydration this tissue becomes rugged and wears off. Now let us understand the fluid in the body like blood, sweat, tear, lymph all at once start becoming thicker and diseased. Our body goes into the state of defense once it starts getting low fluid in order to protect, an inflammatory reaction like pain, redness, swelling come in the picture. These fluids need to be diluted with the plant-based sources of giving the right amount of fluid to increase the mobility of joints. By following a natural way we can definitely treat arthritis. Eat: A good amount of water is needed in the body, 5-6 liters of water is at least needed in the body, the blood is there 5-6 liters so at least that much of water is needed in the body. Start storing the water in copper bottles so as to make sure we get a good amount of copper. Copper is the required mineral which helps in treating fluid. Let us start our day with a good amount of water, 2-3 glasses of warm water help in flushing out the toxins. These toxins which come and make our immunity vulnerable to diseases need to be flushed. When we eat the right kind of food at the right time we make sure that it is easily absorbed. Your breakfast should comprise something light, a fruit bowl and after some time a vegetable juice is easy to digest. This will help in the absorption of nutrients easily. Food items like cucumbers, musk melons, watermelons are helpful Vitamin C contains antioxidants that are helpful in treating the inflammation caused in the body, by the lack of fluid. Calcium is another mineral that is needed at this stage to make sure our bones are working in harmony. Seeds are another good source of calcium, for example, flax seeds. The consumption of seeds after lunch is like a mouth freshener is a very good way of dealing with it. Exercise: Let us start with dealing with the exercise part in a broader spectrum, exercising will not only help you in bringing back the comfort but also get a good amount of energy. 1. A brisk walk is something that you can do daily without getting joint pain. 2. Child pose, cobra pose and angry cat pose of yoga do it in the written sequence and continue with suryanamaskar 12 sets and start with 6 in case of pain and discomfort. This will definitely help you. With the help of these guidelines, you will surely be able to work on you and your exercises will be fruitful without discomfort or pain. Meditation: Practice mindful meditation. Deal with your stress. Allow positivity to be part of your life. Doing a 15-minute exercise before sleep like deep breathing will help in relaxing your mind, you can use music also for relaxation. A calm mind will lead to a healthier body. Sleep: Getting 7-8 hours of sleep is very essential for the body, during sleep our body repairs itself and rejuvenates us for the whole day. All the inflammatory process will be treated well once you feel healthy. Hopefully, these suggestions will help you. Thank you
Can we add turmeric powder while cooking?
Smitha Hemadri
08:30 PM | 20-02-2020
Turmeric is a herb. It is anti-inflammatory. Humans started to consume it when the approach became more medicinal in nature to fix eliminations like cold, cough, applying on wounds etc. Habit of using it in the cooking was to ensure that all the family members can consume it. However, when you start looking at natural ways of living, we focus on giving more power to the body to self-heal, not stop the eliminations with a suppressor, easing the digestion during that time and not stopping an inflammation forcibly. In this approach, the reason why our ancestors used turmeric does not really matter. Do you taste turmeric in your cooking? No isn't it? So, unless you know how turmeric plays a role in visually enhancing the dish or enhancing the taste of the dish, you don't have to consume it. If you have grown fresh turmeric, there is no harm in using some for your raw juices or using it in a herbal drink as a replacer for your coffee tea. To summarize the answer, No, it's not necessary to consume turmeric on a daily basis. Correcting the habits will improve your lifestyle and remove the need for suppressors. Hello Pritam, It is a very good thing that you want to take initiatives for your health. We can help you by guiding towards a healthy and helpful diet. The best detox any doctor would advise you is Water. So it is time you start your day with drinking two glasses of water which will help you in flushing out the toxins which have been helping you out. The second part is including lots of raw vegetables in your diet. Consuming a plate of raw vegetables before your meal will help you in detoxifying and even control your appetite. During dinner which ideally should be before 7 pm you can have tomatoes with black pepper this will help you a lot in dealing with acidity. Circadian Rhythm read this blog to know more about accurate eating. Thank you
