Hello Madhulika, Hypothyroidism is a lifestyle disorder and many people are suffering from this due to an improper lifestyle and wrong eating habits. In this, the hormonal balance gets disturbed which lowers the metabolism and leads to issues like constipation, no hunger, fatigue, obesity, anaemia etc. Due to lower metabolism, nutrients are not absorbed properly which further leads to problems like thinning of hairs, pain in joints and bones, drowsiness, decreased vision. Diabetes is also a lifestyle disorder. By making some changes in lifestyle, good health can be achieved. Reasons for thyroid: Genetic factors. Environmental factors. Obesity. Lack of physical activity. Stress Wrong eating habits. Incorrect sleeping pattern. Diet: Eat only plant based natural raw foods. Eat fresh fruits like banana, pomegranate, avocado. Eat fresh green leafy vegetables like spinach, coriander. Eat salads, steamed sprouts, nuts. Avoid dairy products and animal foods. Avoid tea and coffee. Avoid carbonated drinks. Avoid processed and packaged foods. Eat whole grains like barley, millets, oats. Drink coconut water. Physical activity: Do suryanamaskar daily. Do gomukha asana, paschimottan asana, padahasta asana, garuda asana daily. Perform pranayam like bhramri pranayam and ujjayi pranayam for benefitting thyroid gland. Sleep: Sleeping pattern and quality greatly affects the circadian rhythm and in turn the hormonal balance. So, take a deep sleep of good quality for 77-8hours daily. Sleep early at night at around 10 pm and also wake up early in the morning at around 6am. Thank you .

Hello Nehal, The thyroid gland secretes hormones that help to maintain the brain, heart, muscles, etc. An overactive or underactive thyroid gland leads to thyroid disorders. an underactive thyroid gland results in hypothyroidism. It is a lifestyle-related disorder that occurs when we load our body with wrong foods like saturated fats, refined sugars, etc. It becomes difficult to cure the problem and lose weight if we continue to load our body with such wrong foods. So, it is essential to make some lifestyle changes and dietary changes. Diet to follow- Have a variety of fresh, seasonal, and locally available fruits and vegetables. Eat sprouts, salads, and dry fruits. Have pulses, nuts, and beans. Take antioxidant-rich foods like blueberries, amla, orange, or lemon. Drink plenty of water during the day, approximately 8 to 10 glasses of water to be hydrated. Diet to avoid- Avoid processed, packaged, and preserved foods. Avoid dairy products and animal foods as they are not meant for our human digestive system and lead to the accumulation of toxins in the body. Avoid tea and coffee. Avoid carbonated drinks. Exercise Exercising and yoga are very essential for good blood circulation in the body. Perform 12 sets of suryanamaskar daily. Do pranayam regularly, specially anulom-vilom and kapalbhati pranayam. Do plank for 5 minutes. Take sunrays daily in the morning as it will provide the body with Vitamin D which is essential for the good health of bones, teeth, and muscles. Sleep Sleeping pattern is very important for a good circadian rhythm which affects hormonal balance and hence the functioning of the whole body. Hence, it is very important to have proper sleep. So, take proper sleep of at least 7-8hours daily. Thank you
Hello doctor! I am Raju, 30 years old. Am suffering with sleeping problem, while sleeping my brain is continuously discuss something itself, remembers, thinks very past memories, people, remembers and visualizes scary things, am trying to avoid these but it is only for few seconds then automatically starts the same thing as above, I have sub clinical thyroid, what to do to overcome this problem?

Hello Raju, With subclinical thyroid in the background having thoughts and sleeping problems can be relatable. In nature cure, nothing becomes impossible, because nature has designed our body in harmony, in sync with nature. Insomnia is large, due to over-thinking. We generally think our mental issues are caused by the mind, but our food also has a special role to play in it. The kind of food we eat is the way we think. There are three types of food described in yoga which have its effect on the mind. Sattvic food, eat light, stay calm. Rajasik food is highly spiced making us overactive in everything and the mind feels uncertain. Tamasik food which makes our body lethargic. Negative thoughts are caused by stimulants such as tea, coffee, which give our body less sleep. By taking an initiative in a holistic way, you can overall help yourself. That is why, by taking a step towards holistic health, you can effectively treat yourself in nature's way. Eat: Start the day with two-three glasses of warm water, this will help in flushing out the toxins and improve the state of metabolism by increasing it. The next thing is the inclusion of vegetable juice in your breakfast as this will help in giving the right amount of energy for the day. Keep at least two hours gap between your food and your sleep timing at night. Mineral-rich food sources like seeds for example in evening soak chia seeds in a glass of water for an hour, soak them and add one tablespoon of lemon juice. Consume it two hours after the meal, this will help in preventing insomnia. Exercise: Taking a brisk walk in the early morning sun rays helps in treating all the problems, as the sun helps in treating the mood and freshens us for the whole day, it stimulates our system and strengthens our immunity. An early morning walk is recommended. Suryanamaskar will help in treating the health issues and will help in dealing with all problems, 12 sets a day is recommendable. If you are a beginner start with 6 and increase it. Sukhasana, Balasana, Shavasana are very much helpful. Practice each pose for 5-10 seconds after the session of Suryanamaskar. Do under expert guidance. Meditation: Stop using the gadget on hour before sleep, you can use a fragrant diffuser where you can use essential oils, and then with the smell itself, you will start feeling calm. Rosemary and lavender oil will be helpful. During the episode of anxiety, you can inhale it by putting two-three drops on a handkerchief. Take 10 long deep breaths, and allow your body to relax, any thought which comes, let it go do not resist. Say the affirmation, "I am healthy and happy" with each breath. This will help in curbing all your issues even in the long run. Hopefully, these suggestions will help. Thank you.

Hello Taruna, Menopause is the natural cessation, or stopping of a woman's menstrual cycle and marks the end of fertility. Mostly women experience this menopause by the age of 42. It is a phase in which the hormonal changes occur in the body of women. These hormonal changes lead to certain health changes like weight loss, excessive sweating, etc. And you also suffered from hyperthyroidism, so weight loss may also be the result of that. However, hormonal balances can be maintained by following a correct lifestyle and having a correct diet. Diet Start the day with 3 to 4 glasses of warm water on an empty stomach. This will help to flush out the toxins from the body. Have fresh, seasonal, and locally available fruits and vegetables in your diet. Include salads, sprouts, nuts, and beans in your diet. Have a light, easy to digest breakfast like a bowl of sprouts and soaked raisins and other dry fruits. Drink freshly prepared homemade fruit juices. Drink coconut water. Use cold-pressed oil in place of refined oils. Have whole grains like barley, millets, oats, etc. Exercise Regular exercise is also important for improved blood circulation and metabolism. Take a brisk morning walk of at least 30min. Do 12 sets of suryanamaskar. Perform tada asana, trikona asana, vriksha asana, etc. Do pranayam regularly for 15-20min, specially anulom-vilom and kapalbhati pranayam. Take sunrays early in the morning. Sleep Sleep is equally as important as our diet. It affects the circadian rhythm and in turn the hormonal balance. So, take proper sleep of at least 7-8 hours daily. Sleep early at night and also wake up early in the morning. Read books before sleeping to improve the quality of sleep. Thank you

Hello Doctor! I am from Bangalore. My age is 30 years & I am suffering from PCOD and thyroid. I am taking ayurvedic medication for both. But still I am not getting my periods until I take hormonal tablets. Please suggest the diet plan and exercise that has to be followed. I am taking Noni musli tonic for PCOD as well in addition to doctor's medication. And I am doing Surya namaskar early in the morning. From past 5 years I have this issue. Please suggest.
Dr. Khushbu Suthar
09:02 PM | 25-08-2020
Hello User, Hypothyroid and PCOD both come from the same source of imbalance in our hormonal activity. In both conditions are hormones are not working actively in a way that they can help our body achieve the state of homeostasis. Hypothyroid happens due to what we have been putting in our body, which is eating a tamasic diet (adulterated, rotten and unhealthy junk is considered as tamasic). In this case, when we load our body with this kind of food, our metabolism becomes sluggish, "hypo" thyroid happens. Here, our body starts pushing on more to reach an optimal level of functioning. Now as our boy already in a sluggish state, the immunity is weakened. Our metabolism is surely going to become slow leading to low metabolism and difficulty in losing weight. as well as PCOD comes in picture. The main thing to treat this multidimensional illness should be about everything, food, meditation, sleep, and exercise which amalgamate for good health and reach your optimal solution. Eat: The first thing in the morning is to start your day with something light in nature. Easy to digest is what your breakfast should be because they are the kind of nutrients that get absorbed easily. Even the early morning ritual should include consumption of two-three glasses of warm water will help in flushing out all the toxins. The ideal diet would be to depend on fruits and raw vegetable intake for at least one month and refrain from something oil-based. One inch of ginger boiled in two cups of water with one tablespoon lemon, boil them for 5-10 minutes. Consume this mixture during evening time to accelerate metabolism. Consume methi seeds one tablespoon with a glass of warm water in order to increase inulin sensitivity and the menstrual cycle will become regular. High selenium diet which is peanuts, almonds, mushroom, etc helps to increase the function of the thyroid. Exercise: Pranayam helps in detoxifying the body. Practicing it early morning in an area that has good sunlight will help in improving blood circulation. Suryanamaskar, daily 12 sets will help in increasing the blood circulation of your body. Cat and Cow pose helps in increasing the function of the thyroid gland. Meditation: In any kind of disease, stress comes complementary to it. But with our assurance and positive attitude, we can treat anything. The best thing to start with is breathing mindfully before sleeping with the help of music to stay positive. In a room take a bowl of water and add two-three drops of orange or lavender essential oil. This will help in soothing you and the aroma will relax you and keep you away from any kind of disease. Use a 15-minute relaxation technique before sleep by hearing a piece of soothing music and deep breathing will help in relaxing your mind. A positive attitude will help you to deal with everything in life. Sleep: Sleeping for at least 7-8 hours is really helpful in dealing with any problem. Sleep is our body's natural response and helps the body to heal. Sleep relaxes the muscles and strengthens our body. During sleep, our body goes into a repair mechanism where it heals itself. Hopefully, these suggestions will help you. Thank you

Hello Mann, Galactorrhea is a milky nipple discharge unrelated to the normal milk production of breastfeeding. Galactorrhea itself is not a disease, but it can be a sign of an underlying problem. It usually occurs in women even in those who never had children or after menopause. The main reason behind this is hormonal imbalances. Certain medications, some drugs and birth control pills may also lead to an imbalance of hormones and result in galactorrhea. It is very essential to follow a correct lifestyle along with the diet to maintain the circadian rhythm and in turn the hormonal balance. Here are some tips that will help to maintain the hormonal balances. Diet Start the day with 3 to 4 glasses of warm water on an empty stomach. This will help to flush out the toxins from the body. Have fresh, seasonal, and locally available fruits and vegetables in your diet. Include salads, sprouts, nuts, and beans in your diet. I am experiencing over thinking on everything, all the time. So I cannot sleep properly, cannot concentrate on any work. I feel drowsy when excessive thoughts come. What is the solution? I had thyroid - TSH was 11, diagnosed 3 years back. Allopathy medicine caused me heart palpitation so I stopped medicine. Is this because of thyroid I am facing this issue? I do alunom vilom , kapal bhati pranayam but it relaxes me for few hours only. Pls advise.

Hello Amit, Overthinking can often lead us to sleep deprivation. Good sleep is a reaction of a healthy body, eating a light meal. When we eat something heavy it does not allow our body to relax as it makes our body tired by the metabolism process. Eating light is healthy for body and mind. External sources of stress are also the cause of not getting sound sleep. We have to work here in all the ways to heal our sleeping pattern. The main thing here is, it should be about everything, food, meditation, sleep and exercise which amalgamate for good health. One inch of ginger boiled in two cups of water with one tablespoon lemon, boil them for 5-10 minutes before hitting the bed, as this helps in soothing nerves and relax your mind. Eating mineral-rich food like flax seeds, chia seeds, walnut and almonds make our brain stronger and prevent neuro-degeneration which overthinking causes. Exercise: Pranayam helps in detoxifying the body. Practising it early morning in an area which has good sunlight will help in improving blood circulation. Suryanamaskar, daily 12 sets will help in increasing the blood circulation of your body. Do 15-minute stretches before hitting the bed, to allow your body to go under healthy rest. Take a head massage an hour before sleep, coconut oil preferable. Thank you.

Hello Harvinder Singhji, Stress and hypothyroid can both be treated well in a person simultaneously because of the same root cause they are coming from. What we need to understand s our body and the cause of stress which it is producing. Stress and hypothyroid both come from the same effects. Hello Harvinder ji, Thyroid is a metabolic disorder which is getting common these days because of the change in lifestyle and eating habits. Thyroid patients become prone to other medical conditions also like cervical, arthritis, obesity, osteoporosis, etc because of the hormonal imbalances which result due to thyroid disorder. Sometimes it may also result in stress and anxiety due to hormonal changes. Hence, it is very essential to cure the root cause and for that overall changes are necessary for the lifestyle and eating habits. It can be cured naturally by adopting a natural lifestyle. Hello User, Hypothyroid happens due to what we have been putting in our body, which is eating a tamasic diet (adulterated, rotten and unhealthy junk is considered as tamasic). In this case, when we load our body with this kind of food, our metabolism becomes sluggish, "hypo" thyroid happens. Here, our body starts pushing on more to reach an optimal level of functioning. Now as our body already in a sluggish state, immunity is weakened. Our metabolism is surely going to become slow leading to low metabolism and difficulty in losing weight. The main thing to treat this multidimensional illness with your lactation should be about everything, food, meditation, sleep, and exercise which amalgamate for good health and reach your optimal solution. Hello User, Any disease of our reproductive system is directly getting affected by the overall things happening in our bodies. You call it fibroid they all come from the same group which is our blood and oxygen not reaching our parts properly and this resulting in the stagnation of our body which results in the bulky uterus which is due to inflammation. It is time to treat oneself in nature's way. Many people are now choosing this mode of treatment for the simple reason this is the time to have a long term solution to all these recurrent problems. In any case, the cure remains the same, which is a holistic cure in nature's way. With taking initiative for treating overall health you will surely reach a cure. Eat: Start the day with having two-three glasses of warm water, this will help in flushing out all the toxins from the body. Include vegetable juices in the breakfast which are light in nature. Consume food that is oil-free, avoid any kind of milk products, and packaged food items. Make sure you have two hours gap between your meals and sleep timing Start with food items like jaggery, dates, sprouts, green leafy vegetables which help in increasing iron content which will make the blood supply to the uterus healthy. Vitamin C addition helps in easy-iron absorption, for example adding lemon in dals. Include fruits like apples, papaya, bananas in the day to have a healthy GUT. Boil one inch of ginger in warm water and add honey with a half teaspoon of turmeric, this ginger turmeric tea should be consumed once a day, two hours after lunch, for controlling inflammation. Exercise: Sleep on back, raise one leg and start rotating in a circular motion for 5 times and place it back, repeat the same with another leg. This will elevate your uterine muscles. Squats are another exercise to improve uterine health. Do it 15-20 times at one time. Sit and take 10-15 long deep breaths from the abdomen, to release all the toxicity. Start with Suryanamaskar, 12 sets daily, and if your mother is a beginner start with 6 and slow postures with each breath. Take her for a brisk walk in the sun, the sun will help in increasing both blood and oxygen supply of the body. Meditation: While sleeping, take a bowl of water. Put two-three essential oil drops like lavender or orange and inhale it. It will help in calming nerves. Listen to music for 15 minutes by closing your eyes and deep breathing, this will help in treating stress. 15 minutes relaxation session is important before sleep. The power of visualization is very important, imagine your body uterus to be healthy and getting free from all types of toxicity. This will help you a lot. Pelvic massages are also very healthy in this case, massage with almond or coconut oil. Sleep: A sound sleep should be of 7-8 hours. This will help in releasing all stress and treat all the issues in a healthy manner. It is time to get yourself healthy and wise. A sound sleep of 7-8 hours is considered to be healthy and helps us a lot in treating all kinds of problems. Hopefully, these suggestions will be helpful Thank you
